NIH Fire Alarm Cable Project

AMT has been marking utilities for NIH since 2006. The Fire Alarm Cable project allows the contractor to safely install new fiber optic cable without damaging on-site private utilities.

Project Details:

The National Institutes of Health are installing new fire alarm cables. The contractor turned to AMT to help it safely install new fiber cable without damaging any on-site private utilities. AMT marked all NIH private utilities throughout the campus for the installation of the new fire alarm cable. We used ground penetrating radar to locate non-conductive utility lines. The campus features many atypical utilities and limited access points which make the utilities more challenging to designate.

We have been marking NIH infrastructure on various on-call projects since 2006 and have marked more than 100,000 linear feet of privately-owned utilities to date including everything from steam and water lines, to natural gas, secondary electric and internal fiber optic communications.
