AMT Lends Support to MD Neighborhood Improvement Initiative
Company News | January 11, 2019
Prince George’s County, MD. – AMT is in the midst of providing transportation planning services for the Prince George’s County Planning Department of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) and their Transforming Neighborhoods Initiative (TNI). The TNI was set into motion with the goal of uplifting neighborhoods that face daily challenges stemming from economics, health, public safety, and education.
Two of TNI target areas, Forestville and Silver Hill/Suitland Metro Station, possess incomplete sidewalk networks, a lack of pedestrian crosswalks at key intersections, and limited pedestrian access to schools, parks, transit, and other community destinations. AMT employees have been working diligently to address these issues and implement solutions that improve pedestrian safety and increase overall productivity. Important tasks have been completed by AMT to ensure the success of the initiative, including site visits, design concept development, community meetings, and agency stakeholder meetings with MDOT SHA and Prince George’s County DPW&T.
