Minnesota Avenue Corridor Improvements
Washington, DC
AMT is designing intersection improvements to improve safety and relieve congestion.
Minnesota Avenue has been designated one of the “Great Streets” in the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia turned to AMT to create a design that improves safety and access for both vehicles and pedestrians along the 1.2-mile project area.
AMT is designing intersection improvements to improve safety and relieve congestion by improving traffic signaling and crosswalks, and adding turn and parking lanes and mass transit considerations. As with all of our designs, we began with sustainability. Our Water Resources and Landscape Architecture Teams created stormwater management and drainage designs, low impact design bioretention and biofiltration cells, and underdrains for filtered stormwater. We also improved the locations of fire hydrants along with water and sewer utilities.
When construction is complete, the District of Columbia will have a safe and beautiful corridor for its Ward 7 residents.
