The Gables Redevelopment

AMT designed a new streetscape and grand vehicular and pedestrian entry plaza for this 145-unit LEED Silver luxury apartment building. The project includes a green roof above the parking structure featuring extensive landscaping and plantings.
Part of the redevelopment of a former bakery, the Gables in Takoma Park is a 145-unit, LEED Silver luxury apartment building. AMT designed a new streetscape featuring brick pavers as well as a green roof that features extensive landscaping and plantings as part of a vehicle and pedestrian entry plaza over an underground parking structure.
The structure would have been structurally inadequate to support the lawn that was originally planned for, so the green roof was designed according to the capabilities of the area beneath each planting, carefully choosing plants according to their needs in the context of the structure below. This design helped the building amass enough points to attain LEED Silver certification.
