We are excited to announce that AMT has received an American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW) Merit Award for our role in the H. Carl Moultrie Courthouse C Street Addition located in Washington, DC. This award recognizes outstanding achievements in engineering excellence withing the Metropolitan Washington region.
“We are proud of our team’s contributions to this landmark project and are honored to receive this recognition from ACEC/MW,” said Aaron Smith, AMT Vice President. “This achievement acknowledges AMT’s commitment to delivering exceptional engineering services for impactful projects that benefit the DC community.”
AMT’s team played a pivotal role in delivering innovative engineering solutions. The project design was led by Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners, LLP. AMT provided services beginning in 2012 through project completion including surveying, wet utilities design, hydraulic design, stormwater management, public space grading, erosion and sediment control design, and permitting.
The building addition represents a significant milestone in urban development and judicial infrastructure. This project provided significant facility upgrades for staff who work at the courthouse and for the public it serves by adding new courtrooms, chambers, and interior supporting spaces, new pedestrian access to C Street, NW, improved public space and exterior plazas, two signalized vehicular entrances, and a combination of structural and green stormwater infrastructure. The project reached substantial completion in 2024, and the project achieved LEED Platinum certification.
The ACEC/MW Merit Award highlights how collaboration and innovation lead to excellence in engineering. We extend our gratitude to our client the District of Columbia Courts’ Capital Projects and Facilities Management Division and to our partners Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners, LLP (Project Lead), AECOM (Construction Management & Landscape Architecture), Silman (Exterior Structural Engineering), and Loring Consulting Engineers, Inc.
