AMT Wins Engineering Excellence Award
Company News | January 17, 2014
AMT received an Honor Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metro Washington for its work on Witter Recreational Fields in Alexandria, Virginia. For this project, AMT designed a new 13-acre recreational facility that capped a disused brownfield and transformed the site with two lighted artificial-turf soccer fields, and a natural turf softball diamond with a scoreboard. The facility features an irrigation system, heated solar-powered restrooms, park pavilions, picnic areas, an interpretive area for an inactive cemetery, and ample off-street parking. The new fields created play space in the city that is in short supply.
The new fields are used for youth soccer leagues, Bishop Ireton La Crosse, and the softball field is home to the T. C. Williams High School Girls Softball Team.
