Brooke Road is classified as a Rural Major Collector and identified by VDOT as a GS-3 for geometric standards. AMT preformed wetland and WOUS delineations and preparing permit materials for this 70-acre parcel, which encompasses PEM, SS, PFO and PUB wetlands. These resources represent some of the best examples of diverse and intact wetland habitats in the Potomac River drainage. Additionally, one of the largest Great Blue Heron nesting sites in the lower Potomac region is found on the NVCT property, which was acquired and protected as mitigation for impacts to wetlands at the expanded Stafford Regional Airport.
Through careful coordination with representatives from the NVCT, USACE, the county and VDOT, a resolution to this complicated scenario is being finalized. It is through the care and dedication of AMT team staff, that often potentially contentious situations are rectified, and transportation projects are able to proceed to construction.
