Buffalo Creek Trail, Farmville, VA
AMT is providing a full range of civil engineering and environmental services to the Town of Farmville for the Buffalo Creek Trail and Bridge. The project consists of the design and construction of a 10’ wide multi-use trails, 90’ long bridge spanning the creek, environmental services and stormwater management. The trail will traverse an extensive forested floodplain forest as it connects the Sarah Terry Trail to the west, the Dogwood Trail at the south and a municipal sidewalk system at the eastern terminus.
Wetland delineation, permitting and mitigation services are being provided for the VDOT and FHWA funded project. In addition to the wetland services provided, AMT is managing the VDOT SERP process and providing environmental due-diligence and compliance assistance. As a component of the project design, a “Blueway hand launch” is planned to offer an enhanced opportunity for boaters to access Buffalo Creek. The project is a critical component of the Town of Farmville’s economic development plan and is planned to tie into the Virginia High Bridge Trail State Park directly to the north.
