Cresthaven Elementary School Modernization

Silver Spring, Maryland

AMT served as the site civil engineer on Cresthaven Elementary School, which achieved LEED-GOLD status. We did boundary and topographical surveys on the 10-acre site, mapped and designated the utilities and did environmental and stream buffer surveys. AMT provided the erosion control and stormwater plans as well as water and sewer, and storm drainage.

Cresthaven Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, near New Hampshire Avenue, was built in 1960, and with an enrollment of more than 300 students needed modernization. The school was replaced with a new building that can accommodate approximately 492 students with improved access to the school.

AMT was the site civil engineer on the school which earned LEED Gold certification from the US Green Building Council. We also did the boundary and topographical surveys on the 10-acre site, mapped and designated the utilities and did environmental and stream buffer surveys working with the tree conservation effort on the site.

In addition, we conducted all the traffic engineering analyses and pedestrian and bicycle evaluations required to meet Local Area Transportation Review and Policy Area Mobility Review requirements in support of Montgomery County’s mandatory referral process.

There are 74 large trees on the property, and they needed to be protected and the project sits partially within the lower mainstem watershed within the Northwest Branch watershed. AMT provided the erosion control and stormwater plans as well as water and sewer and storm drainage.
