Reagan National Airport Task Type Contract

AMT provided construction oversight and inspection on an on-call basis for tasks at Reagan National Airport. A team of five inspectors were cleared by MWAA Operations and Security for full field operations including driving in the restricted areas. AMT’s inspector’s supported upgrades to the fire suppression system for two pumping stations. Other tasks involved runway extensions, new taxiways, installation of the Engineered Material Arresting Systems (EMAS Systems) on all three main runways, field drainage work, and some major electrical upgrades and new utility bunkers.
Construction oversight/inspection addressed activities such concrete, asphalt, grading, electrical upgrades, storm sewer, erosion and sediment controls, the placement of maintenance of traffic, and new construction of PAPI systems along with EMAS systems.
For construction activities within active runways and taxiways, AMT staff was trained for and utilized a radio system to communicate with radio tower personnel along with MWAA’s operational department. AMT’s involvement consisted of project documentation to meet MWAA and FAA standards and regulations, identifying field issues and providing countermeasures, ensuring all protocols (especially safety) were met, communication/ coordination with all stakeholders and adherence to environmental regulations.
