SHA US 219 – From I-68 to Old Salisbury Road Design-Build Project, Grantsville, MD
AMT is the lead highway and bridge engineer for the US 219 Improvement Project which is within the US 219: 1-68 (MD) to Meyersdale (PA) Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) study. The project adds a segment to Corridor N of the Appalachian Development Highway System (ADHS) to supplement and connect Appalachia to the interstate system, and provide access to markets within the Region and the rest of the nation. The new alignment of US 219 features two 12-foot wide travel lanes in each direction and is divided by a 28-foot wide grass median.
The new dual bridges over US 40 Alt will receive stone treatment to match the character of the historic district in which the project is located. The project design scope also includes new highway alignment and reconfigured interchange design, roundabout design, phased maintenance of traffic, bridge and retaining wall design, traffic analysis, drainage design, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, signage and striping, interchange lighting, landscape architecture, reforestation, utility relocation, stream mitigation design, public outreach, and environmental permitting.
