Company News | February 2, 2023
AMT provided Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services and successfully administered this $30.8 million construction project on I-81 in Roanoke County, VA. I-81 in Virginia is a four-lane limited access highway entering Virginia near Bristol and leaving near Winchester, a length of 324 miles. The particular project focused on improving safety, reducing congestion, increasing accessibility, contributing to economic development, and promoting efficient land use along a nearly 2-mile section between Exits 141 and 143. This section is used by 70,000 vehicles daily making it the most heavily traveled portion of I-81 in Virginia and was characterized by heavy congestion and traffic conflicts. This Smartscale Auxiliary Lane Additions and Interstate Paving (Exit 141 and 143) improvements project successfully alleviated congestion and provided for safer northbound and southbound merger movements. Congratulations to Craig Jones, PE, Kenneth Bandy, PE, Suloman Malik, Alex Griffith, Joshua Lester, PE, CCM, PSP, and the whole AMT Team on this award win!
