West Virginia Division of Highways Awards AMT 2nd Place Engineering Excellence Award for the Wheeling Suspension Bridge Ohio County Project

(March 2024) AMT received the 2nd Place Engineering Excellence Award (EEA) in the Statewide Coatings Inspection Services Category from the Division of Highways (DOH) of the West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) for our contributions to the Wheeling Suspension Bridge Ohio County project. We are pleased to receive this recognition and take great pride in our ongoing partnership with WVDOH. Wheeling Suspension Bridge Coatings Inspection – Wheeling, WV Project
AMT is providing coatings inspection services for the historic bridge, which spans the main channel of the Ohio River, connecting Wheeling and Wheeling Island in District 6. The project involves repair, rehabilitation, and recoating of both the steel and timber components of the bridge utilizing an extensive total of seven coating systems. Responsibilities include ambient conditions monitoring, surface preparation requirements assurance including blast quality and anchor profile, ensuring proper debris collection and disposal, mix requirement assurance, inspection of coating application, coating quality, and verification of dry film thickness as applicable. In addition, the performance of full documentation involving completion of daily reports and supplemental coatings inspection worksheets with entry into Site Manager is being provided.
